Hong Kong!
Date : Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Hello I know I haven't posted in quite a long time! I've been really busy lately even though it's the holidays.. (*ahem* busy..with the wrong stuff. oops) Right.. So I just came back not long ago from my first trip to Hong Kong! :) In general it was really quite fun and a good experience so everyone should go! Did lots of shopping, lots of eating, and tried quite a few crazy things that I never thought I would.
I'll start with some interesting things I noticed about HK:
- there are a lot of fat sparrows everywhere and they're brave enough to get close to people unlike those cowards in singapore.
- the people keep to their right on escalators and stairs.
- their so-called 'ez-link cards' are called 'octopus' (how cute!). So everything is like 'tap your octopus here', 'top up octopus here', 'in case you lose your octopus, contact..'. Really a very cute term to use.
- people hardly wear shorts, and they have very unique dress sense.

So on the first day, I took SQ from terminal 3 for the first time YESSS! It was quite nice, and I was very amused by the butterfly garden and the hugely fat kois in the pond. A 3 hour flight is too short for movies :( So I only managed to watch 'how to train your dragon', which was cute! reached HK in the late evening, checked into royal plaza hotel, wasted no time and went onto the nearby bustling streets to search for nice dinner. Ended up at some small street side noodle place and I had some beef noodles that didn't have much meat and didn't taste very nice either. nevermind! I tried CHOU DOU FU! which wasn't really THAT smelly to me actually, and tasted not bad haha. We found this REALLY good dessert shop! And we promised to eat there every night and we kept that promise. yeah man. Did some light shopping along the streets then headed back!

On the second day, we took the MTR (i still don't know what it stands for) to Disneyland! Well I was expecting..more, but I was rather disappointed firstly because of its size. And probably because it's so small, the rides are limited and that reduces all the fun already. I guess I went to Tokyo Disneyland few years back and it was so much better so in comparison HK's isn't really that great. Well we had complimentary entrance tickets so doesn't matter! heh heh. Took a few rides which weren't thrilling at all, watched the parade and shopped abit then left for the mall with all the FACTORY OUTLETS of good brands at relatively cheap prices. Salivate. Did shopping AGAIN.. and by the time we headed back my legs were gonna break, really. :( So much walking for the day.

On the third day, we took the MTR again to Ocean Park! It was big. Bigger than Disneyland, but had nothing much to do either I think. We took the really cool cable car up the mountain! It's the longest cable car ride I've ever taken, and the scenery was beautiful (: Watched the marine show which was not bad, went to a few exhibits and the highlight of the day is that I took a rollercoaster with 3 loops for the first time in my life. You don't know how scared I am of looped coasters! Ended up it was pretty fun! The loops weren't scary at all haha. And because I had to accompany my thrill-seeking sister, I also took the free fall ride omg seriously I never expected myself to be brave enough for it. It brought us up for about 10 secs to look at the view from the top (but I didn't concentrate on looking I was counting down to when it'll drop), then it dropped, free fall. And according to my parents, I screamed really loudly HAHA. So proud of myself really. Took the pirate ship with my bro and dad, then left after that. It's funny how I went to Ocean Park but only saw like... a few animals? I only saw dolphins and seals (during the show), interesting goldfishes, pandas and a tiny alligator. THE END. wow so much for ocean park haha. Dad's HK friend then brought us to this island to eat seafood for dinner! We took a long half-hr boat ride which was fun because it's windy (but really cold), and we got to see the HK night view that was really breathtaking! Much nicer than singapore's night view.

On the fourth day, we spent the entire day shopping to our heart's content back at the factory outlets and after that along many many streets and it was fruitful because everyone got something(s) (: At night, packed our stuff and went back the next morning. I'm really satisfied with this trip cos it allowed me to unwind and relax abit before mugging my life away. The next time I'm going overseas would be after A levels. Looking forward!!

Okay so what have I been so busy with apart from my holiday? My 4 year old fujitsu died on me, and now I'm using my dad's old com temporarily. The speakers of my fujitsu spoilt, and somehow my dad's com's speakers can't seem to be working either. UGH I am so not fated with sound >:(
Barely started studying much... everytime lam asks how's my revision, I stutter and not know what to say. Sigh... Until next time!
